California!

We took our first family vacation to Orange County! Some highlights-- we caught up with old friends Ben and Matt (aka Puddles and Babushka-- note that Babushka never did send those pictures), Max and Daddy hung out at Newport Beach and the Disneyland Hotel, and LIA helped Mama present her poster at Experimental Biology, where she met the illustrious Voet and Voet.

On our way to California, LIA met the venerable scholar Cornel West. She impressed him with some novel theories she has been formulating about race and society, so he posed for a picture with her.

Yesterday, we went to a commemoration / reenactment of the Battle of Nashville. Max had his first (but likely not last) high-level meeting with a head of state.
