half-time

Not only because this blog is extra late... May 13? No Mother's Day musings? Sorry readers! NB: Max's days are well documented. Your faithful blogger is knee deep in science and medicine and is as such the bottleneck on the Maxformation superhighway.

We celebrated our Parent's Night Out at the MSTP Half-time party, where we ate a delicious meal on a cool spring patio in the 'burbs, and the [facetious] M.P. degree* was conferred on me. It's our own little celebration given by the MSTP program as we watch the classmates we entered with graduate as MD's and go on to their (oh so brutal sounding) internships, while we are just now taking our qualifying exams to become candidates for the degree we stopped for on the way. To tell you the truth, I'm glad it's halftime. Oh and Mother's day weekend was lovely -- a family dinner out and brunch without the crowds/hats, naps, good times. I love celebrating motherhood, and I love having more mothers to celebrate with each year -- at last count 6 new mom-friends I know were celebrating their (well T minus, in 4 cases) first Mother's Day.

*1/2 MD, 1/2 Ph.D, a double half doctorate if you will


But since this post so far is only tangentially related to our protagonist, onto a new beginning. Max made a fantastic green drawing today. He wields a marker with a nice variety of techniques. I see a future in... me being like MAX NOT ON THE WALLS!

Grandpa says it looks like a fish. I say a rocket. What see you, dear readers?

Max is back from his weekend in Florida. Mom and dad are rested and happy to have our munchkin home! Mom is even happier that she slept until 10 this morning. 10!

Who sleeps like this? part deux

slacking on my blogging

Dear Readers, I will put up some new pictures tonight! Thanks Feldman for keeping me productive. My latest grant is written and sent (and hopefully on its way to paying for the rest of my graduate training), and we are settling in to a new and ludicrous commute (The babysitter, Ty's job, and school form an exceedingly large triangle). So we, like Grey's Anatomy (yay!), will now return to our regularly scheduled programming.



Max has made leaps and bounds (literally) in the walking department. He still (quite comically) falls flat after about 6 steps. But his pivot is on point, and he's working on clapping and walking at the same time. I know some of you grown folks can't even manage that.

Guest Editor

We got a visit from one Ben Woodlock, rockstar, college partner in crime, and celebrity photographer/ valet. Max took his first picture! We ate yummy Ethiopian food, and here is proof positive that our young hero is almost bipedal.

Thanks Ben! And, ahem, Matt Fogel, can the world see some Xmas photos? I'm saying...

Happy 1st Birthday/ Mamaversary!

Max is a big boy! We celebrated by going to Student Research Day and taking 2nd place, hanging out with Dr. Kawai, then having cupcakes and balloons with Daddy. Max's cupcake smashing game needs some work. He stuck his finger in once and didn't even smear it on his face. His pouring-red-slurpee-on-Mama's-white-blouse game, however, is on point.

Max and Dr. "Sleepmaster" Kawai. When Max used to hang out in the lab, Dr. Kawai used her scientific skills to master the perfect put-Max-to-sleep rocking combo.
